A MOTHER'S WORD 🅵

Originating during the reign of Neferkahor, pharaoh of the VIII Dynasty of Ancient Egypt, during the turbulent First Intermediate Period, this prayer was more than just words. It was an integral part of grand celebrations dedicated to the great deities. Each such celebration began with the solemn blowing of a horn, symbolizing the opening of the gates of heaven. At this sacred moment, it was believed that the deities could convey people's prayers directly to God. These rare but significant events took place only a few times a year, becoming milestones in the spiritual life of the Egyptians.

Over time, the prayer's meaning expanded. It left the confines of temples and entered everyday life, becoming part of lullabies. Mothers whispered it to their children, knowing that the sacred words would grant them sound and safe sleep, protecting them from nightmares and unseen dangers.

Eventually, this ancient prayer returned to the temple walls, but in a new form. Now it was often inscribed on the walls so that priests could recite it during less grandiose services. It became a kind of invitation to service, a reminder of the divine presence, and a call to spiritual unity, even when the great celebrations were not taking place.
