HISTORY OF THE RITUAL THE ROYAL TREAT
The ritual dates back to the 16th century AD. In the 1800s, it was used at the court of Nicholas I Pavlovich, Emperor of All Russia, during feasts and receptions. It was performed by a woman who served at the court and was responsible for food and refreshments.
A similar text, but in French, was discovered during the reign of Catherine the Great (Catherine II Alekseyevna), Empress and Autocrat of All Russia. The text contained minor changes in meaning and recommendations for choosing food in favor of salted dishes, in particular sturgeon caviar.
