HISTORY OF THE MONTGOMERY NIGHT RITUAL
The original texts date back to the 15th century and were discovered in a monastery in southern England.
For a long time they were kept by Gabriel I de Lorges, Count of Montgomery, a Norman aristocrat, the unwitting murderer of King Henry II, and an active participant in the Religious Wars in France.
The ritual was used by the Count of Montgomery three days before the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre, which was the eve of St. Bartholomew's Day on August 24, 1572, when the Catholics carried out a massacre of Huguenots in France. About three thousand people died in Paris, and about 30 thousand Huguenots were killed in pogroms throughout France, but the Count of Montgomery miraculously survived that night. A wounded Huguenot swam across the Seine to warn him of the massacre that had begun.
