HISTORY OF THE MAGIC WATER RITUAL
The original texts date from the so-called Second Intermediate Period, during the reign of the 17th Dynasty of Egypt. At this time, Egypt was divided into several small states subject to the Hyksos until the unification of Egypt and the creation of the New Kingdom.
The ritual was used in almost all houses in southern Egypt as a mandatory ritual before going to bed. In this way, people tried to avoid misfortunes from other people. It was one of the priestly rituals used for newborns to protect them from attacks by evil spirits.
