HISTORY OF THE RITUAL LYUBAVUSHKA
A composite ritual*, the spells of which date back to the 800s. Prayers and spells are combined into one ritual by the healer Lyubava Semenovna. It quickly spread in Rus' among merchants who performed at fairs in front of a large number of people in order to be heard and seen and to speed up the sale of goods.
Earlier references to the ritual texts were found in what is now Morocco. The text was used as a prayer for the sale of large numbers of animals (herds) and the safety of their transportation.
*Composite rituals are rituals composed by skillfully interweaving prayers and spells from different times, but corresponding to the same goal.
