One of the ancient temple texts. The ritual was used in the Temples of Ancient Egypt before the services of priests and parishioners.
Outside temples it was often used at night for small children to calm their crying.

To pacify the “demons of sadness” (irritability, nervous tension, anger) and come to a state of balance and peace
