THE HISTORY OF THE RITUAL IN THE ARMS OF THE JINN
The original text was found during excavations near Ain Dara, the oldest temple in what is now Syria. It is a ruined Syro-Hittite temple from the Iron Age, noted for its similarities to Solomon's Temple.
The text dates back to 1460 BC, to the time of the Hittite Empire, a powerful ancient state in Asia Minor. Part of the text was lost due to the absence of a fragment of a clay jug.
The ancient Hittites used a ritual jug as a talisman in the household and placed it in a prominent place under the sun's rays so that the spirits would always be present in this place and could protect the owners of the premises from harm. If the jug broke, it was believed that the spirit left the house and the family was left unprotected. Exactly one month later, the ritual was performed again on a new jug.
The text of the ritual is still kept in the archives of the Vatican Library.
An earlier version of the ritual without the use of a jug is posted on the site.
