THE HISTORY OF THE SONG BRAVE AKIS
The text was spread throughout the territory of Ancient Greece. The prayer was used in rituals and festivals dedicated to the God Hercules, who performed twelve great feats. The text was also used in a ritual to give boys strength, "like the Gods", during the celebration of their 12th birthday.
The text of the prayer, written on paper or a piece of light fabric, was put into clay figurines and used as a talisman. Such a talisman contributed to success in studies and victory in competitions.
Later, the lyrics to the song were found on clay tablets among the remains of destroyed houses after the conquest of Hellas by the Roman Republic.
