THE HISTORY OF THE PRAYER OF ST. PANTELEIMON THE HEALER
The prayer was brought to Greece by traders from the Ottoman Empire. It was used by women and passed from hand to hand to help them go about their daily business.
During the time of the Russian Empire, the prayer once fell into the hands of one of the deacons, who copied it and included it in his collection of prayers. The prayer was attributed to Saint Panteleimon the Healer and was used for reading on the days of his veneration.
