HISTORY OF PRAYER SOULS WILL RISE
The original text dates back to the Third Dynasty of ancient Egypt. The prayer was specifically given by one of the chief priests to the mother of the pharaoh to protect her from nightmares associated with the deceased soul of her husband.
According to the beliefs of the ancient Egyptians, the souls of the dead who have not completed their earthly affairs can pester their loved ones to complete the work they started.
Prayer was also part of the ritual of washing victims of violence to call upon spirits to punish the offenders.
