HISTORY OF THE PROTECTION PRAYER UPUAUT
The prayer was passed from hand to hand by the priests of the ancient Egyptian Temples to ordinary people so that they could protect their homes from enemy attacks. The prayer became especially popular at the end of the New Kingdom (c. 1550–1070 BC). At this time, Egypt was experiencing a period of political instability, as a result of which the Libyans came to power. Shoshenq I, a Libyan military leader, seized power, becoming the founder of the 22nd Dynasty.
Prayer was often placed in the corners of houses to avoid any attack and allow the inhabitants of the house to remain alive.
