PRAYER FOR PROTECTION OF THE NIGHT

HISTORY OF THE PRAYER PROTECTION OF THE NIGHT
An ancient Egyptian prayer dating back to the Early Kingdom. It was used as protection against evil spirits and was hung on a clay or sometimes stone tablet at the entrance to a home.
The ancient Egyptians could thus sometimes find non-believers in their settlements if they needed to find the right person who came from other territories.
During the New Kingdom, in the "Amarna period", particularly after the religious and political reforms of the Pharaoh Akhenaten of the 18th Dynasty and the resulting prohibition of many customs, prayer was available for the most part only to temple servants or their entourage.
