PRAYER “FORGIVENESS, NILUFER!”
Share
HISTORY OF THE PRAYER FORGIVE ME, NILUFER!
One of the most ancient prayers, which has not undergone significant changes throughout its history. The text was found during archaeological excavations.
The prayer belonged to and was recited daily by the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire Murad I regarding the harm caused to his own mother, Valide Sultan Nilüfer Khatun, in connection with a dispute over a new concubine in the Sultan's harem.
For a long time, the prayer was kept secret without allowing outsiders to see it, which allowed the text to be preserved in its original form.
